Meeting the CBOs of Kakuma

missionkrc

Lyama, Placide, and Best spent most of the day taking us around to meet the other Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) within Kakuma camps 1, 2, 3, and 4. It was a full-on day!

We met six CBOs, all at varying stages of development. The aim of today was to look for possible avenues of collaboration and cooperation amongst the CBOs. We spent time understanding the activities each organisation is involved with, and their issues / needs.

There seems to be a strong outward focus in these organisations to improve the livelihoods of the community as a whole! There were some incredible stories of success amongst the CBOs, founded by truly engaging and motivated individuals who have overcome their circumstances to provide for themselves and those around them.

We are excited to see what comes of possible partnerships in the coming weeks!

A very successful CBO, running a computer facility as well as vocational training workshops.

Sewing training and production workshop for women looking to have a trade they can use in the camp.
